How to read this

Every line carries a tag. The tags are not decoration — they are the difference between what a court decided, what a document records, what he wrote, and what somebody alleged and no court has ruled on.

Court finding  a court decided it, after adjudicating it Court order  a court ordered it — an order is not a finding Record  a procedural fact on a docket; not in dispute His own words  he wrote or said it; the truth of it is not established Allegation  asserted by a party, never adjudicated

The divorce opens  ·  11 events

  1. 20 Aug 2020Court order The Probate Court of Cuyahoga County orders him detained for mental illness — an Order of Detention (Mental Illness), case 2020MI22049, issued on his wife’s affidavit. It commands police to “apprehend said person forthwith and detain him at St. Vincent Charity Hospital” and is addressed to the director of that hospital’s psychiatric emergency room. He was living in a hotel at the time. It was issued under R.C. 5122.11 — the route that begins with an affidavit filed in the Probate Court, not an emergency pick-up — and it is a temporary order of detention. The order, at pp. 8–10 — filed by him as an exhibit to his own later lawsuit.
  2. 20 Aug 2020Record Westlake police take him into custody at his divorce lawyer’s office and drive him to St. Vincent Charity. Their call-for-service report — which he later obtained by public records request and filed himself — logs the call at 13:40 under call type PROBATE, officers out with him in the car park at 14:34, “subject is being cooperative” at 14:38, in custody at 14:42, and turned over to hospital staff at 15:17. The order was addressed to the North Olmsted police, where he was staying at a hotel, “and/or any other police officer”; Westlake took him because that is where his appointment was. The report, Exhibit C. The record he filed himself.
  3. 20 Aug 2020Allegation The affidavit behind that order states he was delusional, believed “he is a simulated person and that his real person is dead,” had been put on leave from work, was posting messages advocating violence against the police, and had made credible suicide threats with a firearm while having access to firearms. His wife’s sworn allegations, not findings. The record he filed himself.
  4. 20–25 Aug 2020Record William Easton Horner is held five days in the psychiatric unit at St. Vincent Charity. Because the order came through the Probate Court, R.C. 5122.141 gave him a hearing within five court days of being detained, and provides that failure to hold one “shall effect an immediate discharge.” His own hospital record — a Patient Visit Report he later filed into a public court docket himself — gives the admission date as 20 August 2020, the reason for the visit as “bipolar DD, mixed episode with psychotic features,” and the discharge disposition as “home, self care.” It was printed on 25 August. Its discharge-date field is blank, and no discharge date appears anywhere else in the record, so the length of the stay rests on the protection-order court’s later finding that he “spent 5 days in St. Vincent Psychiatric unit” — which is also the statutory limit. Her divorce complaint, filed four days in, records that he “remains as a patient at the hospital.” He would afterwards describe the episode as an unlawful imprisonment and build much of his later litigation on it — and in a 2023 discovery petition he gave the dates himself, as “Plaintiff’s incarceration in SVCMC from Aug. 20th 2020 – Aug. 25th 2020.” The hospital record, Exhibit E · his own petition.
  5. 24 Aug 2020Record Allison Horner files for divorce, DR-20-382383. The chronology · What she swore.
  6. 9 Oct 2020Record Answer and counterclaim. He states there are “two (2) children born as issue of said marriage,” names them, and asks the court to award him child support. See the entry.
  7. 10 Oct 2020Record Recorded offense date for William Easton Horner’s charge of drug possession, brought in Rocky River Municipal Court. The police report in the case records officers seizing a clear plastic baggie of suspected mushrooms, about six grams, at the home of his estranged wife while he was there under a civil standby to collect belongings. She testified that the laboratory “confirmed” them as psychedelic mushrooms. He was later found guilty — on 23 April 2025, after the first case was dismissed and the same charge refiled. The report, at pp. 33–35 — filed by him as an exhibit to his own motion.
  8. 23 Oct 2020Court order Court orders a Family Evaluation Services forensic evaluation ($800) and an alcohol and drug assessment ($175). The assessment.
  9. 2 Nov 2020Record Allison moves for temporary support.
  10. 24 Dec 2020Record Christmas Eve. He is charged with criminal damaging / endangering for actions at the home of his wife and children. He was not arrested that night — the case was not filed for four days. He was later found guilty on a reduced charge. The case in full.
  11. 28 Dec 2020Record The criminal damaging case is filed. A warrant issues the same day. It is not served for another four weeks. The case record. Christmas Eve.

  16. 19 Mar 2021Record William Easton Horner goes looking for the probate order. Westlake police answer his public records request the same morning, sending the call log at once and referring the order itself to the city law department. At the Probate Court he is told in person that the case was “expunged” and that “all records, including the Order, were destroyed as part of that process.” That is what the statute requires. Under R.C. 5122.141 a temporary detention that does not end in a court order ends in discharge and the expungement of “all record of the proceedings” — by either of the two routes such a case can take. He would treat the missing file as evidence of a cover-up.
  17. 23 Mar 2021Record Motion to subpoena the probate order and the plaintiff’s affidavit. To attack the order he attaches six exhibits: his own sworn affidavit, the Westlake public-records emails, the police call-for-service report, the department’s crisis-intervention general order, a state pamphlet on involuntary commitment — and his own medical record from St. Vincent Charity, which he thereby placed in a public court file himself. The motion, his affidavit and four of the exhibits. The record he filed himself.
  18. 24 Mar 2021Record Motion to strike the probate order “from evidence of defendant mental illness.” The record he filed himself.
  19. 29 Mar 2021Record The court records the restitution refunded from the defendant to the victim and cancels the restitution-owed alert. The case ledger still carries a $605.99 balance under costs, but nothing is owed to her. Christmas Eve.

  22. 1–12 Apr 2021His own words Email exchange with the Director of the court’s Family Evaluation Services. She tells him she cannot conduct the evaluation without records. He does not sign the authorizations. “Under no circumstances will the Cleveland Clinic records be released.” His answer on cannabis · The filings that followed.
  23. 16 Apr 2021Record Oral hearing on temporary support. He testifies that he is a “Data Security Specialist” and a licensed realtor in North Carolina, working to become licensed in Tennessee; that he cannot take on clients because he believes his phone is compromised; and that he is “currently making $300 to $400 per month.” What he told the court he earned.
  24. 20 May 2021Record Tennessee issues him a real estate broker’s license, No. 361535 — five weeks after he told the court he was working to become licensed there. He holds it as principal broker of his own firm, William Easton Horner DBA Millennial REA, Firm 265192, at a Morristown address. The license, and what became of it.

  32. 23 Aug 2021Record William Easton Horner reports two probate judges to the Supreme Court of Ohio, alleging the detention order was “at best improperly executed and at worst an outright forgery.” The grievance is dismissed for want of “substantial, credible evidence.” The two things he read as tampering — a different force executing the order, and the file being gone — are both provided for: the order itself says “and/or any other police officer,” and R.C. 5122.141 requires the expungement.
  33. 5 Oct 2021Record Affidavit of Kathy H. Horner filed in the divorce. He separately moves to remove his own drug-case counsel “for ethics violations and grossly inadequate defense.” His mother’s affidavit · The chronology.

About this timeline

Where it comes from

Compiled from the dockets and filings of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas — Domestic Relations and General Divisions — the Rocky River Municipal Court, the Eighth District Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Ohio, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. Every entry is traceable to a document.

Where a date is genuinely unresolved in the record, it is given as a month rather than guessed at. Where a count comes from a sworn affidavit rather than a court’s own finding, it is marked as an allegation and attributed. Where the court’s docket uses a clerical convention that reads like an event but is not one, it has been left out.

The detail behind each entry, with the documents, is on the other pages of this site.
